JOB PURPOSE

To be responsible for and co-ordinate all strategic and practical human resources work in consultation with the Chief Executive and Heads of Department, as appropriate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manage and develop the College’s human resources policies and procedures to ensure adherence to legislation and best practice.

1. Participate in and manage all recruitment activity.

1. Maintain and develop the staff appraisal system.

1. Co-ordinate all staff training, developing and delivering training programmes within capability.

1. Manage staff welfare issues.

1. Manage all disciplinary and grievance matters.

1. Co-ordinate the annual staff salary review.

1. Manage staff pension arrangements.

1. Undertake human resources administration to support the function e.g. producing contracts, annual leave cards, etc.

1. Undertake any other duties related to the job purpose, as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Good first degree

• MCIPD or FCIPD

• Proven breadth of human resources experience

• Proven knowledge of employment legislation and its applications

• Proven experience of both human resources strategy and practical day-to-day human resources management

CURRENT PROVISIONS

The Royal College of Psychiatrists is the professional and educational body for psychiatrists in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland whose aims are to:

• advance the science and practice of psychiatry and related subjects;
• further public education in psychiatry and related subjects;
